The WORST Generation?
I've been giving a lot of thought to our country and when I think things really went wrong. Despite some amazingly positive things done in the 60s, I have to say that that generation changed our country for the worst FOREVER!!!
It was the decade of the civil rights movement, and I'm eternally thankful for that...but it was also the decade of some really low points:
-LBJ's Great Society--he created a welfare state and destroyed Families (many of the minorities). Before the Great Society, Families were comprised of married parents and were SOLID. The Great Welfare state destroyed families and subsidized illegitimacy, bad choices and indolence. Our country has never looked the same.
-How sad it is to see what has happened to families in America.
--Hippies and the drug culture. Will we ever recover from the druggie losers who claimed our country in the 60s? There has been a war on drugs ever since. Drugs have ruined our country to this very day.
--Draft Dodgers. The idea that we desert our call to battle and abandon our country rather than honor the draft our armed forces rely on in times of war?
Some of these counter culturalists had children, and now their children's children are in our schools, and what I see from some students is quite disturbing. The apathy, indolence and arrogance shown by many of the underperforming students in our schools today is frightening...I meet with their parents, and I realize why the kid is messed-up after visiting with the parent. Now most of my kids (students) are wonderful...but an ever-growing number just are unplugged from reality and don't really care.
I'll talk more about this later, but Since Tom Brokaw wrote about the greatest generation, I thought I'd take a minute to pay homage to the WORST GENERATION.
